The March coin design depicts a logger navigating a log drive, a scene very common to Canada throughout its history. Marjolaine Lavoie, the coin's designer, described it as "is in recognition of the courage and valiant contribution of the raftsmen and forestry industry to Canada's development and prosperity."
The launch ceremony took place in Lunenberg Nova Scotia, the site of North America's first sawmill in 1632.
